The Smithsonian Folk Life Festival
In the summer of 2001, Artistic Neon was invited to demonstrate their craft at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival, New York City at the Smithsonian. It was the greatest honor of our lives and involved the family (Rob, Gasper & Carmela) packing up a mini neon shop and setting up at the mall in Washington, D.C. There were almost One Million visitors in the two weeks we were demonstrating, and I think we spoke to them all. We bent glass and lectured throughout the day, and on many occasions we were interviewed by someone. It seemed people from all walks of life love neon as much as we do! The gallery contains some photos from our fun times there... thank you Smithsonian.
